SOS bowlers take on Round Table No 19 members
June 25, 2009
On the 23rd June 2009 the Kingston Round table No 19 members took on the Special Olympics Ten Pin Bowling squad that are going to Leicester for the National games. It was a really great evening with everyone having lots of fun. Thbe Round tablers beat the Special Olympics Squad by only 16 pins over two games but the Head Coach Lee Crosby said they were to receive 20 penalty points for drinking on the lanes !!!!
The Round tablers presented Sue Frett, County Secretary of Special Olympics £400 towards the cost of the National Games in Leicester which take place from the 25th July - 31st July.
Axess Films were also at the bowl to follow the evening bowling of Jonathan Frett. They have been following Jonathan for over two months now and the film concludes at the national games. The title of the film is called 'The Bowler (Ten Pin Bowler), The Bouncer (a basket ball player), the Fighter (karate athlete) and The dnacer a Gynmast. The were not disappointed as they saw Jonathan score 170 which won him the top score trophy and he bowled four strikes in succession.
This was truly a great night when the Special Olympic Athletes took on Kingston Round Table No 19 - All agreed that this was now to become an annual event.
The Chairman of the Kingston Round Table No 19, Justin Pinches said, "I can genuinely say that I have never had so much fun at a bowling alley. Thank you and all at SOS for making this such a great event. Needless to say I would love to try and organise another match. All the very best to the team in July. I have high hopes as they are a great bunch. Please stay in touch and let me know how they get on."
