We are going to Leicester !

June 25, 2009

With 5 weeks to go excitement and anticipation are high amongst our 17 athletes who will be competing in the Ten Pin Bowling completion at the National Games. Training hard under the watchful eye of the team coach they are honing their bowling skills at the Charrington Bowl and David Lloyd sports centre whilst also attending fitness sessions at Kingston College to improve upper body strength and muscle tone. The team will be leaving the Malden Centre early on Saturday 25 July to travel to Leicester and will be returning the following Saturday having experienced a  wonderful opportunity to compete in competition at national level. As we always say, it is not the winning that is important but the taking part.

Thanks to the generosity of Phillip Witcombe, executive chairman of Surrey Integrated Arts Consortium, the team will be attending a special event on Tuesday 22 July to officially launch their part in these games. This will take place at the Denbies Wine Estate in Dorking and will be an evening to recognise everyone’s efforts and commitment to supporting sports training and completion for people with learning disabilities.
